Today, I write to homage someone I have admired for the past 10 years.
You ought to know who is, as he is dead now. Steve Jobs, the inspiring leader of many inventors/designers from not only Apple but the whole world.
His vision of elegant design was about simplifying, while making it appealing and pleasant to use. Nobody could do better - and if they did, either Apple would buy the company who did it or they would develop similar however better features in their own interfaces.
I practical terms, for example, instead of being able to customize an iphone like you can do with an android, you USE it. It’s the convenience for the non-expert combined with a relevant “stylish existence” you start belonging to after buying one of the Apple’s products - in almost a religious fashion.
The way Steve Jobs had dealt with the improvement of the company’s devices, his mastering in the art of making them the foremost desirable things on earth, the design of a new business model for culture distribution and lots of other tiny details of Apple’s business, combined with huge pressure on its employees, have made what the company is today.
Whilst astonishing our feeble consumer minds, Steve had not taught us much more than have manipulated us into consumerism delightment. However, what I understand from his public life is: the world is here to be designed and redesigned the way we want it.
Remarkable human being, this Jobs. Rest in peace.
